In the 1970s, Mackenzie (Seychelles) Ltd became the first local gas importer in Seychelles. LASEY was later created by a partnership between Mackenzies and a Reunion based company to introduce local gas manufacturing to Seychelles for the first time thereby guaranteeing a reliable supply of gas to the country and saving foreign exchange. The company produces two of the most highly demanded gases in Seychelles, oxygen and acetylene at a purity of 99.5%. LASEY also produces nitrogen and provides customers with argon, nitrous oxide, carbon dioxide and helium.
